Four people have died in fresh violence in Indonesia's troubled Maluku islands.
Soldiers shot dead two Muslims travelling by speedboat across the harbour off the provincial capital Ambon.
Malik Selang from the city's Al-Fatah mosque says two more Muslims were also killed by security forces on Friday.
At least ten people were injured in both incidents, he said.
Military and government officials confirmed gun battles had occurred but gave no further details.
"We have witnesses to testify that the soldiers killed them (the four men) even though there was no rioting or unrest," Mr Selang said.
The violence comes less than 48 hours after the Indonesian military announced that the 17 battalions currently based in the province would be reduced to four by February.
The islands have been enjoying a period of relative calm. The Government had hoped that the violence, which began in January 1999, was waning.
On Friday people from both faiths marked the second anniversary of the beginning of the clashes with services of commemoration.
