Oscar favourite Julianne Moore says she chose to be an actor not a movie star.

Oscar favourite Julianne Moore says she chose to be an actor not a movie star.

The 42-year-old, who could win a best actress Oscar nomination for her role in Far From Heaven and a best supporting actress nod for The Hours, said: "You have to decide if you want to be an actor or a movie star.

"I act for myself. I get unbelievable pleasure from it," says Moore who chooses roles without worrying about whether they will be a commercial success.
