Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has claimed he rejected a move to Manchester United three years ago and would do the same again now.
The Brazilian also urged Old Trafford midfielder David Beckham to join him at the Bernabeu Stadium.
"They offered me a lot of money but money is not the only thing that matters to me, even though I love English football," said Carlos.
"Then I decided to say no because Real Madrid supporters love me as a member of their families, not as an idol.
"If I were to receive another offer from Manchester United I would have to think about it very carefully, although I probably would still reject it.
"The problem is that the English weather is not made for me and also in the Premier League there is no show. I mean, people go to the stadiums and then go back home but they don't live football as Spanish or Brazilian supporters do."
Left-back Carlos is a fan of the Premiership and admires one player above all others - Beckham.
Carlos told onefootball.com: "He is one of the best five players in the world. I don't like him because he is handsome, obviously, but because it appears so easy for him to play and score goals.
"I am sure he would succeed at Real Madrid because we would do whatever he needed to be happy and accomplished.
"Luis Figo is the best example of that. If he couldn't run, we'd run for him. So I am sure Beckham could become part of Real Madrid's history if he was signed."
