About 50 inmates have been killed after a fire erupted at a Moroccan prison.

About 50 inmates have been killed after a fire erupted at a Moroccan prison.

The official Moroccan news agency says the blaze broke out at the Sidi Moussa jail in El Jadida.

About 40 inmates were also wounded.

Officials blamed an electrical fault for starting the blaze, the agency said.
