The Taoiseach said he regretted the circumstances that led to the resignation of Northern Secretary, Peter Mandelson.

The Taoiseach said he regretted the circumstances that led to the resignation of Northern Secretary, Peter Mandelson.

Bertie Ahern added that he applauded the role played by Mr Mandelson in the ongoing implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.

He concluded by saying that he and the Minister for Foreign Affairs had always had a good and effective working relationship with Mr Mandelson during his term of office.
