Dublin is now the third most expensive capital city in the European Union, according to a survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting.

The study found that London and Copenhagan are the only EU capitals with a higher cost of living than Dublin.

The research follows a recent Forfas survey which found that Ireland has the second-highest cost of living in the 12-nation euro-zone.

The Mercer report found that Hong Kong, Moscow and Tokyo were the most expensive cities in the world, Johannesburg was declared the cheapest capital city.
