Jessica Chapman’s mother is “determined” to resume work as a learning support assistant at her daughter’s primary school, a senior education authority official said today.

Sharon Chapman, 43, worked at St Andrew’s Primary School in Soham, where both Jessica and Holly Wells were pupils.

Andrew Baxter, Cambridgeshire County Council’s director of education, said he did not know when Mrs Chapman would return but she was planning to resume work.

“She has said she is determined to come back to work,” said Mr Baxter.

“Her present stance is that she wants to come back as part of the attempt to get back to normality.

“We don’t know yet when she will return. That’s a matter for her.”
