The party says the Liam Lawlor affair highlights the absence of powers open to the Oireachtas to punish wrong-doing.

Labour leader Ruairi Quinn said tonight: "The aim is nothing other than for TDs and Senators to uphold the law and co-operate fully with the institutions of the State."
