Woman arrested after cigarette seizure released

Gardaí in Co Meath have released the woman arrested yesterday in connection with the seizure of 2.5 million cigarettes in Co Monaghan.

Gardaí in Co Meath have released the woman arrested yesterday in connection with the seizure of 2.5 million cigarettes in Co Monaghan.

The woman was arrested in Co Louth on suspicion of membership of an illegal organisation, but was released without charge today.

Four men were also arrested following the seizure at a warehouse in Inniskeen and three of them are still in custody today.

Gardaí believe the cigarettes were smuggled into Ireland by the Real IRA.
