Cruise was the father of my baby - Kidman
Tom Cruise was the father of the baby Nicole Kidman miscarried in March, according to papers filed by the actress in their divorce proceedings.
Kidman is seeking joint legal custody of the couple's two children, Isabella, eight, and Connor, six, in the answer she filed on Thursday to Cruise's February 7 divorce petition.
She is seeking physical custody of the children, and wants Cruise to pay family support to maintain their standard of living.
Kidman's papers say she "intends to make her best efforts to continue her career in the performing arts" but was hampered by "the need for her to care for the children and to safeguard their emotional well-being and ... the recent serious injury to her knees" .
The actress hurt her knee during the filming of Moulin Rouge, set for release this summer.
Kidman, 33, and Cruise, 38, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on December 24. Soon after the parties were "intimate", according to Kidman's filing, and Kidman became pregnant but miscarried.
In a statement in response to Kidman's filing, Cruise's lawyer Dennis Wasser said the actor will provide Kidman with half the community property, consisting of tens of thousand of dollars.
"The children are his life, and he will always provide for them and their security," the statement said.
Also on Thursday, Cruise filed a $100m (£70m) defamation lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against a pornography actor who allegedly claimed his gay affair broke up the actor's marriage.
"Cruise is not and never has been a homosexual" and "does not even know" the actor, Chad Slater, the suit said.
