Irish bishop gets top UN job
An Irish bishop at the Vatican has been appointed to a top United Nations job.
Bishop Diarmuid Martin was today named as the Vatican's representative to the UN and the World Trade Organisation in Geneva.
The 57-year-old entered Vatican service in 1977 and has played a major role in rallying support for the Pope's campaign for third world debt reduction.
