IFA slams meat plants buying cheap German beef

Meat factories, which have imported cheap German beef in recent weeks have come under fire from the Irish Farmers Association.

Meat factories, which have imported cheap German beef in recent weeks have come under fire from the Irish Farmers Association.

The IFA said they were appalled that meat processors were using the BSE crisis to make a fast buck.

Chairman of the IFA National Livestock Committee, Derek Dean, said the factories’ move was inexcusable, especially coming at a time when the beef sector was on it’s knees.
