Intel has denied that there will be job losses at its Irish plant as part of its drive to shed 5,000 jobs worldwide.

Intel has denied that there will be job losses at its Irish plant as part of its drive to shed 5,000 jobs worldwide.

Company spokesman Bill Reill said that rather than lay-offs, the company would merely not replace staff who left its European headquarters in Leixlip.

However, he said Intel was still recruiting in certain sectors, particularly software engineering.

Intel employs more than 3,300 people in Ireland.
