Fitness and leisure company, Jackie Skelly Fitness, today announced a €10m expansion plan which is set to create 100 new jobs.

The expansion programme involves the development of new centres in Navan, Co Meath, Greystones, Co Wicklow and Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 by September 2006.

The announcement was made at the official opening of the newly refurbished €3.5m flagship Jackie Skelly Fitness on Dublin’s Clarendon Street

According to Mark Tooke, Director of Jackie Skelly Fitness: “This investment will allow Jackie Skelly Fitness to consolidate its position as the market leader within the greater Dublin area while also allowing us to develop our offering in other geographical regions identified as having favourable growth potential.

"The fitness market in Ireland is still at a very developmental stage but has evolved considerably in recent years. We are confident that an investment of this nature will allow us to maintain our position as the leading fitness brand in the Irish marketplace."

The first phase of the €10m expansion programme will see Jackie Skelly Fitness Navan open later this year within the new mixed-use development at Bailis Village in Johnstown.

The new 30,000 sq.ft fitness centre includes a 20-meter swimming pool, a children’s pool, a 10,000 sq.ft gym with over 150 pieces of fitness equipment and aerobics/spin studios.

The facility constitutes an investment by Jackie Skelly Fitness of €3m and is due to open in September 2005.

The next two phases of the expansion programme includes a €3.5m, 30,000 sq.ft health and fitness centre at the new Charlesland development in Greystones, Co Wicklow and the opening of Jackie Skelly Fitness’ seventh fitness centre in three years – a 25,000 sq.ft development at Shelbourne Road in Ballsbridge.

The centre will represent an investment of €3.5m and is due to open in September 2006, becoming the only fitness centre of its kind in the Dublin 4 area.
