An Eircom League board of control meeting this evening will probe the issue of summer soccer and the radical suggestion from Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely to fly referees in from the UK to officiate Irish matches.
Several top names are for the seasonal change, with Bohemians, Finn Harps, Kilkenny City and Shamrock Rovers likely to vote for the switch to the warmer months.
Top bosses Roddy Collins and Damien Richardson have already said they will back the move.
The refereeing issue would appear to be a more difficult one to achieve - however, Swiss referees already regularly officiate at German Bundesliga matches.
