With a crew of 200 people and two jumbo jets, the Rolling Stones will play the biggest Asian concert venue to celebrate their 40th anniversary world tour.
The veteran British rockers are due to perform on April 8 in front of a capacity crowd at Bangkok’s 11,500-seat Impact Arena.
“The Bangkok venue is the biggest venue in Asia,” said Neil Thompson, a promoter at BEC-Tero Entertainment. “They are bringing everything in, sound and lights.”
The Stones have never played in Thailand before. Thompson said the group would spend three days in Bangkok after stops in Shanghai and Beijing in China.
The band will also play in Hong Kong, Singapore and India on the Asian leg of its Forty Licks tour.
Having rehearsed more than 130 songs for the tour, the Stones will play a selection of their best known hits in Thailand, Thompson said.
“With an act like the Stones, with 40 years of music behind them, you can’t go wrong,” he said.
