Shares in AGI Therapeutics plc, a specialist pharmaceuticals company, began trading today on IEX, the Irish Stock Exchange’s specialist market for small and medium-sized companies.

As part of its listing on IEX, AGI Therapeutics has raised €42.5m in a share placing and has an initial market capitalisation of €84.9m.

AGI Therapeutics is the first company to list on IEX in 2006 and brings the total number of companies listed on the market to 14.

AGI’s decision to list on the IEX market was warmly welcomed by the Irish Stock Exchange’s Director of Listing, Deirdre Somers, who described it as another vote of confidence in the IEX market.

“It is encouraging that the last five listings of companies on IEX have involved companies in various sectors of the economy - from exploration, mobile telephony, property/facilities management to security/recruitment and now pharmaceutical development.

"It is clear that IEX is rapidly becoming the market of choice for small and medium-sized companies across a range of industries and we are confident that IEX will attract more Irish companies in the months and years ahead” Ms Somers said.
