The Irish Farmers Association is discussing the European Commission proposals on BSE with officials in Brussels.

The Irish Farmers Association is discussing the European Commission proposals on BSE with officials in Brussels.

It comes ahead of a meeting between the IFA and the Minister for Agriculture tomorrow to decide how to secure changes to the proposals to help Irish farmers.

IFA president Tom Parlon said the Commission measures target a small minority of beef producers, primarily Irish grassland producers.

This was unfair, he said, as more intensive European bull beef producers escaped such restrictions.
