Much like in the fashion industry, where the arrival of glossy magazines’ September issues heralds the start of a new season, autumn is the most important time of the year for fragrance launches.

Now is when perfume purveyors bring out the big guns, the blockbuster scents they hope will become bestsellers, and this year there are some strong contenders, particularly if you’re looking for a rich, warm scent to cocoon you during the colder months.

Here are seven highly-anticipated new fragrances vying for a place on your dressing table…

1. Valentino Voce Viva Eau de Parfum, £55 for 30ml

Fronted by none other than Lady Gaga, Voce Viva is a “celebration of equality” according to Valentino artistic director Pierpaolo Piccioli, and there’s no doubt this eau de parfum will appeal to many. Beautifully balanced, the glamorous scent is abundant with white florals, the heady gardenia and jasmine notes tempered by the warmth of sandalwood and vanilla absolute.
