A man is in a serious condition in Beaumont hospital after a crash in Dublin overnight

The accident happened on the Raheny Road shortly after 2am today when the driver's car hit a lamp post and burst into flames.

Firefighters responded to the call and freed the 23-year-old man from the vehicle before he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed but has since reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
