A woman has died following a two-car crash in Co Monaghan.

A woman has died following a two-car crash in Co Monaghan.

The accident happened shortly before 5pm yesterday at Tullyvaragh Lower on the main Carrickmacross to Castleblaney Road

The woman has been named locally as Michelle McCable from Latton, Castleblayney, who was 34 years old.

Three passengers in the car - an 8-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl and a 62-year-old womajn female were injured in the crash. Their injuries are described as not serious.

The driver and sole occupant of the other car was also injured. All injured persons were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The road was closed to allow an examination of the site.
