Gardaí have arrested a man following an assault on a women and theft of a car with a passenger in it in Dublin’s city centre this afternoon.

Gardaí have arrested a man following an assault on a women and theft of a car with a passenger in it in Dublin’s city centre this afternoon.

The car was taken during an incident on Hill St near Mountjoy Square at about 3pm, with a woman in her 30s sitting in the passenger seat.

The car was observed by a passing Garda patrol and stopped following a brief pursuit at Sean McDermott St.

A man in his late 20s got out of the car and was arrested by gardaí. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Store St garda station.

The woman was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for injuries suffered during the incident.
