A woman in her 40s was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Co Donegal yesterday evening.

A woman in her 40s was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Co Donegal yesterday evening.

The incident happened at 7.15pm on the Coneyburrow Road, in Lifford.

She was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where her condition is described as serious.

The road is currently closed while gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Lifford are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
