A 43-year-old woman is due to appear in court in Limerick at at 6.30pm this evening in connection with the death of eight-year-old Anthony Ward in north Cork on Monday.

A 43-year-old woman is due to appear in court in Limerick at at 6.30pm this evening in connection with the death of eight-year-old Anthony Ward in north Cork on Monday.

The woman - who was arrested in Cork yesterday evening - will be brought before Limerick District Court this evening.

Anthony was found dead in bed at the home he shared with his mother, Diane at Harrison Place in Charleville after Diane contacted a family member saying she needed help.

Anthony's funeral will be held at Holy Cross Church in Charleville at 2.30pm tomorrow.
