Woman due before court in relation to 20-year-old murder

A 57-year-old woman is due in court later charged in connection with the death of a Dublin man more than 20 years ago.

Christopher Payne was 52 years old when he was attacked at his home in Crumlin in 1988.

In May 1988, a gang of men wearing balaclavas broke into Christopher Payne's home at Rutland Grove, Crumlin.

They beat him with a hatchet and a hammer and he died from his injuries six months later.

In 1989, two men were jailed for nine and half years each for their role in the attack.

Following a review by the Garda Serious Crime Review Team, a 57-year-old woman was arrested in England yesterday on foot of a European arrest warrant.

She is due to appear before the Courts of Criminal Justice later this morning.
