A woman has died following a shooting incident in Dublin.

A woman has died following a shooting incident in Dublin.

A second woman is also being treated in hospital for gunshot injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai were called to the scene at a house in Killinarden Estate in Tallaght shortly after 4pm today, where they discovered a middle-aged woman with fatal injuries.

Another woman, believed to be in her 20s, is being treated for gunshot injuries at Tallaght Hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and a shotgun has been recovered. He is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at St James' Hospital.

The scene has been preserved and gardai are carrying out a technical examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has also been notified.
