A woman has died in a house fire in Co Sligo.

The blaze happened on White Strand View in Aylesbury Park in Sligo town just after 9pm last night.

A 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Sligo Regional Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Two other occupants who were in the house at the time - a three-year-old boy and an 18-year-old teenager, escaped uninjured.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination and a garda investigation is underway.
