Woman dies after cars collide near Athlone
A woman has died after a two-car collision on the old N6, Athlone to Ballinasloe Road.
The 49-year-old was fatally injured when her vehicle struck another at around 9am at Cornafulla.
She was the car's only occupant while the driver of the second vehicle has been taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe with non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí are at the scene.
The road has been closed and diversions are in place.
