A 29-year-old woman has appeared before a special sitting of the courts charged with the alleged cultivation of drugs in Co Galway.

A 29-year-old woman has appeared before a special sitting of the courts charged with the alleged cultivation of drugs in Co Galway.

Anna Skorupska with an address in Maam appeared before Galway district court. She is charged under Section 17 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

At Galway district court today, she was remanded in custody to appear before the courts again next week.

€42,000 worth of cannabis plants were seized following a number of planned searches of premises in the Maam area yesterday.

The searches were part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Galway region.
