A wind surfer has been rescued in the North after he got into difficulties in Portrush.

A wind surfer has been rescued in the North after he got into difficulties in Portrush.

The man, who's from Ballycastle and an experienced surfer, was rescued from the base of a cliff by the Belfast and Irish coastguards.

They were alerted after a member of the public saw him being blown off his board towards rocks at around two o'clock this afternoon.

One other man was also involved in the incident, but he managed to get to the shore and look for his missing companion.

Neither of the men were seriously injured.
