West-Kardashian honeymoon spikes interest in Midlands tourism

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have, it seems, given the Irish tourist trade a boost.

The famous duo's recent visit here on their honeymoon has been followed by a 113% surge in inquiries for Midlands hotels.

Booking.com revealed yesterday that it has seen an increase in searches for the idyllic town of Ballyfin Demense after Kim Kardashian tweeted about how great their honeymoon was.

"It's no surprise that people who are curious about their favourite celebrities are also curious about where they visit," said Fáilte Ireland's Alex Connolly.

"Between the two of them, they've got over 30 million followers on Twitter, as well as fans all over the world, so whatever they do, wherever they do it, is always going to draw attention."
