One ambitious Leaving Cert student found out this morning that he had passed 27 exams.
Thirty-five-year-old Eoin Jackson, a teacher based in Waterford, took a total of 30 subjects in a bid to raise funds for his school.
He set a record when he passed 20 exams in 1994, but succeeded in breaking that today.
However, Eoin said he was still not completely satisfied with the results, particularly in Hebrew Studies, which he failed.
He said: "If I had even one more day to look over that stuff, I definitely would have got the D3."
Meanwhile, the identity of the only student to earn nine A1 grades in this year's Leaving Cert remains a mystery this morning.
Nearly 58,000 candidates are finding out how they did in June's exams. Schools opened their doors at 9am, while the online service at examinations.ie can be accessed from midday.
