A computer-generated animation which takes viewers on a virtual walk through Cork’s flood-prone Morrison’s Island area has been released to showcase a major flood defence and public realm upgrade project.
The flood defences, which are being delivered by Cork City Council as part of an extensive revamp of the Morrison’s Island area, are the first to be delivered under the OPW’s controversial €140m Lower Lee flood relief scheme.
City councillors will discuss the proposed scheme for Morrison’s Island at tonight’s city council meeting before the plans go on public display for six weeks, as part of an eight-week period of public consultation.
It is hoped that work on the project will get underway before the end of the year and take about 12 months to complete.
