Visitors to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin are being asked not to bring children under 12 to the hospital where the winter vomiting virus is described as ‘very virulent’.

Seventy-three patients and 57 staff have been affected during this latest episode, causing severe discomfort and disruption to services.

People should avoid visiting the hospital if possible and should limit numbers to one person at a time if their visit is absolutely essential. They should also avoid canteens at the hospital.
