VIDEO: Gardaí examine scene of Mallow blaze that killed two men

Gardaí in Cork are examining the scene of a fire in Mallow which killed two men.

The men, aged 36 and 37, died in the blaze at Granary Court on St Joseph's road.

It is understood that one of the dead men is from Dublin and the other is from Mallow. It is as yet unclear whether they were living in or visiting the apartment where a party was taking place.

A man and a woman were rescued from the building and taken to Cork University Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Smoke and flames prevented gardaí from re-entering the building after they rescued the man and woman.

A full technical examination is being conducted later today to establish the cause of the blaze. At this stage, gardaí do not believe there is anything suspicious about the fire.
