Viable grenade made safe in Cork

A device which was found in Co Cork this afternoon was a viable grenade, it has been confirmed.

A device which was found in Co Cork this afternoon was a viable grenade, it has been confirmed.

An Army bomb disposal team was called to the scene at 2pm, a farmhouse which was being renovated in Donoughmore.

A controlled explosion was carried out nearby.

It is believed the grenade dates back to World War 2.

Meanwhile a suspect device has been discovered in Malahide, north Co. Dublin this evening.

The Army bomb disposal team is en route to the scene.

The nature of the device is so far unknown.
