A suspect device discovered in Co Longford earlier this evening was viable.

'Viable' device found in Longford

A suspect device discovered in Co Longford earlier this evening was viable.

Gardaí and members of the army bomb disposal team were called to the scene at Bohey, on the Mohill Road out of Drumlish after it’s understood the object was found outside a house.

A number of people were evacuated from their houses as a precaution but have since returned to their homes.

The device has been removed for examination.

The scene is also been preserved by gardaí overnight and will be examined by technical experts in the morning.

The Drumlish-Mohill road was closed to traffic earlier but has since reopened.
