Varadkar confirms no exemption from traffic laws for vulnerable groups

The Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has said vulnerable groups cannot be exempted from penalty points.

Varadkar added people on lower incomes or from minorities cannot ask for a special exemption if they are facing traffic fines.

His comments came after some TDs complained about how people from lower incomes often felt victimised because they could not afford to pay fines when they were only marginally over the speed limit.
