Update: Man dead, woman and child injured in Dublin crash; GSOC investigating
A woman in her 40s is fighting for her life after a fatal crash on the northside of Dublin.
A man, also in his 40s, died when their pick-up truck hit a tree at Fairview Park last night, while a 13-year-old boy is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
It is understood the 4x4 failed to stop for Gardaí and sped up just before the crash at 1am.
The garda watchdog GSOC is investigating.
Local Councillor Deirdre Heney says officers are appealing to speak with witnesses.
"If anybody at all saw anything around the Fairview Park area last night, or leading up to it, please please get in touch with An Garda Síochána with any piece of information no matter how small."
The garda watchdog has been asked to investigate a fatal collision in Dublin overnight.
The case has been referred to GSOC because the vehicle had come to the attention of gardaí prior to the crash.
The collision occurred when a van crashed into fencing at Fairview Park at the junction of the Malahide Road shortly after 1am.
A man in his 40s was killed, a woman was critically injured and a 13-year-old boy is also in hospital.
Local councillor Deirdre Heney says it is a busy junction and hopes any witnesses will come forward.
"It was Thursday night/Friday morning so there would be a lot of people frequenting some of the fast food restaurants down there. And there are a couple of pubs in that area as well.
"People might have witnessed something or anything. Please, if you have, contact An Garda Síochána."

A man in his late 40s was driving a van when it collided with fencing where he was killed.
His body has been removed to Dublin City Morgue.
The female passenger (late 40s) was seriously injured and was taken to the Mater Hospital where her condition is described as critical.
A boy (13) was also in the van and he was taken to Temple Street Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Garda forensic collision investigators officers are at scene and the road is currently closed to traffic.
Local traffic diversions are in place and have been tweeted.
Garda Síochána Ombudsman Officers have been notified of the incident.
