Union meeting with La Senza administrators 'very positive'
The Mandate trade union has described a meeting held this morning between La Senza staff and the administrators KPMG as "very positive".
The lingerie company closed down its 15 Irish stores on Monday, with the loss of 114 jobs.
Workers are currently staging a sit-in at the La Senza store at Liffey Valley in Dublin, in an effort to ensure they get the proper redundancy entitlements and all money owed to them.
“The two sides met for an hour and during this time Mandate officials and the La Senza workers set out our concerns about the monies owed to staff in relation to pay, overtime and holidays, as well as redundancy,” said Mandate divisional organiser Michael Meegan.
“KPMG listened to what we had to say and have agreed to take the workers’ concerns to KPMG in the UK and have said they will revert to us later today with a response
“In the meantime the sit-in at Liffey Valley continues with the full support of the Mandate Trade Union as well as the wider public and political leaders across the political spectrum.
“Mandate and the workers remain as determined as ever to do whatever is necessary to get a just settlement for the La Senza workers.”
