An unfinished housing estate in Co Westmeath has been sold for more than €800,000.

An unfinished housing estate in Co Westmeath has been sold for more than €800,000.

The development - Coill Rua in Mullingar - comprises 12 units at various stages of completion, along with an adjoining site.

The guide price for the development had been set at €600,000 when it went to auction.

It consists of 12 partially complete houses on the periphery of Mullingar. The units are at various stages of completion and include six three-bed semi-detached homes, two four-bed semi-detached homes and four four-bed detached houses.

The entire development, for which planning permission was received in 2006, was to contain 89 houses.

Estate roads and services are in place on the site.
