Two people have been seriously injured in a crash in Limerick.

The man and woman - both in their 20s - were injured when their car hit a tree on Ballycummin Road at 4.30am this morning.

They are receiving treatment at Limerick University Hospital where they are said to be in stable condition.

An investigation has been launched and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
