Two remanded after €1.35m heroin haul

Two men have appeared at Dublin District Court, charged in connection with a massive drugs haul in the city.

Two men have appeared at Dublin District Court, charged in connection with a massive drugs haul in the city.

€1.35m worth of heroin was seized by gardaí on the Old North Road in Finglas on Thursday.

Fifty-two-year-old Edward Rooney and 64-year-old Des Ryan were remanded in custody to reappear on Thursday, April 12 at Cloverhill district court.

Rooney, with an address at Ballinacorribeg, Roundwood, Co Wicklow was granted bail of €5,000,on the condition that he sign on daily at Wicklow garda station.

Sixty-four-year-old Des Ryan with an address at 53, Belfield Springs in Enniscorthy, was granted bail of €10,000 on the condition that he appear at Enniscorthy garda station.

Both men have been charged under section 3 and section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and have been ordered to surrender their passports.
