Two men are due before court today in connection with a robbery at a post office in Co. Carlow on Saturday.

Two men caught in woods after post office robbery with hammer due in court

Two men are due before court today in connection with a robbery at a post office in Co. Carlow on Saturday.

The men, aged in their late 20s, have been charged in connection with the robbery which happened in Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow at around 9.45am on Saturday morning.

Gardaí said a man armed with a hammer entered the post office at Leighlinbridge and threatened staff before leaving with cash and a computer hard drive.

A member of staff was not injured during the raid.

Gardaí from Carlow arrested two men in a wooded area near Leighlinbridge a number of hours after the raid.

They were both detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Carlow Garda Station as part of the investigation.
