Two men acquitted of rape of non-national woman

Two men were acquitted with the rape and robbery of a non-national women in Central Criminal Court today.

Two men were acquitted with the rape and robbery of a non-national women in Central Criminal Court today.

Both men, aged 35 and 30 respectively, pleaded not guilty to raping one non-national female and robbing her of €950 cash and four mobile phones in her apartment on August 24, 2006 year.

The 35-year-old accused denied assaulting the woman causing her harm on the same occasion.

They also deny robbing €150 and mobile phone from the same woman and €300 as well as three mobile phones from another non-national female at the same address on October 12, 2006

Mr Justice Barry White directed the jury which was sworn in on October 30 last to acquit both men. He also released them from jury service for the next ten years.
