A man and a woman in their early 20s have been killed in a crash in Co. Meath.

It happened on the N51 at Dunmoe, Navan, at about 1.10pm this afternoon.

The man, aged 23 years, was driving the car and the 21-year-old woman was a passenger. Their bodies have been taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan for a post-mortem in the morning.

Gardaí say the car which was travelling from Slane to Navan collided with a lorry.

The 31-year-old lorry driver was uninjured and was arrested at the scene. He was taken to Navan Garda Station and later released.

Emergency services are at the scene and the road remains closed.

Gardaí in Navan are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage to make it available to Gardaí.
