Train drivers accepted proposals for new round of negotiations
Train drivers have voted to return to negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission.
Some 76% percent of members of the National Bus & Rail Union (NBRU) have accepted proposals for a new round of negotiations - including the benchmarking of hours with drivers in the UK and Northern Ireland.
The dispute had threatened strike action last month - however it was called off at the 11th hour.
Following a ballot the unions will now write to Irish Rail to ask for round table talks at the WRC as soon as possible.
NBRU general secretary Dermot O'Leary said: "Having accepted the Labour Courts Recommendation by over 76% to 24%, our members' focus will be to establish the value of past productivity, using the mechanism suggested by the Labour Court.
"We would also remind the company that all future productivity, inclusive of planned service enhancement, will require consultation and discussion with the existing cohort of train drivers prior to implementation, such discussions coupled with the benchmarking of train drivers' hours in Northern Ireland and the UK will form the basis for improvements to the terms and conditions of train drivers."
