Traffic up in Irish ports - but slight decrease in goods

Irish ports handled more traffic last year, when compared to 2012.

Just under 12,000 vessels arrived into Irish ports, most of which were goods ships.

However, data from the Central Statistics Office shows that our ports saw an overall drop in goods traffic.

They handled 46.7 million tonnes of goods, a decrease of 1.9%.
