Gardaí in Tipperary are investigating a fatal two vehicle collision which claimed the life of a man in his late 60's.

Gardaí in Tipperary are investigating a fatal two vehicle collision which claimed the life of a man in his late 60's.

The crash happened on the N74 at Thomastown at around 5pm.

The man, who was the driver and sole occupant was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a tractor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are asking for witnesses to contact Tipperary Garda Station on 062 -80670, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
