Three people remain in custody in the North this morning following the vicious murder of a 30-year-old father-of-three in west Belfast early yesterday morning.

John Mongan, a member of the travelling community, was hacked to death in front of his pregnant wife and children by a gang of men armed with machetes and hatchets.

The gang broke into his house on Fallswater Street before carrying out the assault.

Police believe his death is linked to an escalating Traveller feud in the area.

They later arrested two men aged 32 and 37 and a 68-year-old woman in Derry.
